Home again....Jim

We arrived home with no problems...and only one wrong turn in Boston. Got back to Chazy around 10:00-11:00. It was amazing how many people were coming to the US on holiday. We were sitting near four
11-12 year old girls and when we landed ---one screamed--"I am in America"!! She was so excited. We asked what she was going to do--and what do 11-12 year old girls do? SHOP!!!!

I have attached an article written by JIM, whose public house we sang at last Thursday night...he was the fiddle player. When you look at the picture-doesn't he look what you imagine an Irishman to look like? And it could have been taken 100 years ago.

Here are a couple of pictures from what it was like out my front window this morning--not a bad transition.

On the road to Chazy

The pictures are now posted from the last couple of days. We leave this morning for the airport, then our flight leaves at 2:00. Arrive in Boston (hopefully around 4:00, then the long car trip home. We have had a wonderful time. My legs are tired, my back aches a bit, but I have enjoyed my time with Kevin.

Last day

Today we traveled into Northern Ireland. Our first stop was the rope bridge-60 ft. long, 100 ft above the water. It was a hike just to get there-but it was worth it.

From there we went to the Giant's Causeway-named so, because of a legend about Finn McCool. It was amazing to see. Another good hike-I will be ready for a walk-a-thon.

Last stop Belfast, which had a much different feel than any city so far. Truthfully, it was disappointing, but I am not sure why.

Dublin-Tuesday.

Only a day late....

Wandered through Dublin (Kevin very early, as you can see.)  We did go to the archeological museum. The statue is Daniel O'Connell, so that is for my nephew, Daniel O'Connell.

We went to an Irish play that was also on Broadway. It was called Brendan at the Chelsea. It was very, very good. The theater was small and we were in the second row, at stage level. Not only was the venue cool, the play only had five players, and all but the main character played more than one row.

Dublin-Monday

A lot of walking, starting with the Book of Kells. Interesting and mind boggling at that same time. Located in the Old Library at Trinity College, just looking at the college campus was amazing. So many of the buildings were so old. Upstairs in the library was a display pertaining to the history of Irish Music. It contained original manuscripts and the oldest celtic harp in Ireland.

Walked through St. Steven's Park and saw a tribute to the famine. From there we walked to St. Patrick's Cathedral, another very interesting stop. Not only were the stained glass windows beautiful so was the floor. The choir school, located next door, is the oldest school in Ireland, dating back to the 1400's. I did also not realize that the first performance of Handel's Messiah was performed in Dublin in the 1700's.

Farm to City

Kevin took one last hike around the farm before we left today and got some great pictures. We arrived in Dublin around 2:00. Met Connie and Dana Lalonde, and Carole Harsh and friends tonight for dinner in Temple Bar. We have a very good dinner. It was nice to have dinner with friends. They leave tomorrow.

We plan to go to the Book of Kells during the day. We actually walked O'Connell Street this evening while getting the feel of the land. Making plans for the next couple of days.
